FlingFormer started out as a mobile project for a Production class. The game is a platformer where the player moves via “flinging” themselves through the levels while avoiding dangerous spikes. After the class was complete, the team I was on decided to move forward and work towards publish the game. We took the self publication route and reached our crowdfunding goals. As Lead Programmer on this project, I researched how physics engines interact with frameworks that are available in AS3. Our team decided to go with Box2D and Starling. One of the most challenging, but rewarding, features that I implemented was a converter class that takes JSON that is exported from Tiled and turns it into Box2D objects, allowing our Designer to easily make levels in a visual manner.

FlingFormer had a quiet launch on the Google Play store in late 2014.
